Rockets Make History in Opening Round Win

NEW ROCKFORD (NewsDakota)- It s pretty difficult these days for New Rockford-Sheyenne/Maddock football to make history these days, mainly because they ve already broken so many records. But on Saturday, they managed to do exactly that. Behind five sacks and eight tackles for loss, the top-ranked Rockets extended their winning streak to 35 with a 55-0 opening round win over the Hatton-Northwood Thunder at home.  It marked the first time in the co-op s history posting consecutive shutouts after beating Four Winds 48-0 in the regular season finale. After receiving the opening kick, the Rockets went on an 8-play, 65 yard scoring drive with junior quarterback Jax Demester finding senior Tommy Allmaras for a 45-yard score on third-and-nineteen for a 6-0 lead.  It was Allmaras 23rd receiving touchdown of the season.  The two teams then traded failed fourth downs and after one, it was still just a six-point game. The second quarter began with Layton Jacobson scoring from a yard out for a 12-0
